Market & Economic Brief

March 4th, 2010

GLOBAL STOCKS
Stocks are making a recovery attempt from the pullback that developed in the middle of January but remain vulnerable, in our opinion.  We will not be surprised if stocks reach new highs in the current rally but have become more alert for another, potentially more significant, correction.

WORLD ECONOMY
Leading economic indicators by ECRI are starting to point to a slowdown in the U.S. economy toward the middle of the year.  Debt issues in Europe, the Middle East, and some U.S. states continue to pose potential problems
.

INFLATION DATA
Inflation generally appears to be contained and continued deflation concerns appear to be off the table for the time being.

U.S. RESIDENTIAL HOUSING
The housing market has stabilized but weakness has started to reappear in parts of the market.

PLANNING
New conversion rules for ROTH IRA's in 2010 may present a unique planning opportunity.

About Us

When placing your money into the hands of another for investment, the inherent understanding is that a relationship of trust has formed, and this trust is inarguably the most important factor when deciding who will take your money, keep it safe, and, at the same time, diligently nurture its growth. In addition to this trust, the invaluable investment manager does not merely rely on what has always worked, but is examining what is working in the current market, with the understanding that any plan is only as good as the environment that envelops and supports it.

Dightman Capital Group is forging the way for innovative and sound investment management by building upon a reputation of integrity and adaptability in response to the modern market. After 6 years at RBC Dain Rauscher managing investments and wealth plans for investors, Brian realized that the best form of investment management and wealth planning comes from sources required to act as a fiduciary for clients, and subsequently, he formed Dightman Capital in 2007. Brian has experience with a wide array of investment management and wealth planning projects, including section 16 officer diversification plans.  A varied demographic of clients have made their home at Dightman Capital, a testament to what DCG's clients want most, capital appreciation and preservation of their investments.

Brian is committed to a life of learning as well as educating, having passed Level I of the CFA examination. In addition to individual learning goals, he has set rigorous goals for Dightman Capital - the performance calculations for Dightman Capital are based on the GIPS standards and currently, DCG is undergoing the GIPS verification process with a forecasted completion set for the First Quarter of 2010.  Brian also educates the general public by providing up to date commentary about markets, investments and the financial services industry on the DCG website.

Living in the Seattle area for the greater portion of his life has afforded Brian the opportunity to witness the incredible entrepreneurial culture of the region. Brian resides in West Seattle with his wife and two boys, where he is an integral member of the community. Brian volunteers regularly at his local church and also participates in a weekly community-building group. In addition, he takes great pride in staying active in the lives of his sons and fostering their education, which in the past has included teaching a weekly series to his son's class about classical composers, a subject of great interest to him as an amateur composer/pianist himself. Brian spends his free time exploring the magnificent landscape of Washington with his family.

Brian attended college University of Missouri - Kansas City in the Midwest and went on to spend the first nine years of his professional career in Los Angeles. He has travelled to several countries in Europe and Asia.
